Wilmington is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Wilmington is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

My girlfriend and I always go by the The Kitchen Sink when we come in town. Such a great atmosphere with delicious options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The staff is super friendly and even the chefs interact with you making you feel like your home. Alicia, the owner, is so kind and accommodating. Also she partners with a local tea company (Queen Esther Teas) and they have so many infused teas that are healthy and fun to try. You have to stop by this spot to try the Brooklyn bird, Mac n cheese, and the cucumber salad. The combination was to die for. Also they have homemade ice cream sandwiches 🥰

We had a wonderful experience at The Kitchen Sink in Wilmington’s Brooklyn Arts District. The cozy neighborhood atmosphere and unique character of the restaurant really stood out. You can tell they take pride in serving fresh, scratch-made food with something for everyone on the menu. We ordered the pear salad with gorgonzola and pecans, and it was fantastic — fresh, flavorful, and a very generous portion size. The combination of sweet pears, creamy gorgonzola, and crunchy pecans was perfect. We also appreciated the restaurant’s inclusive approach, with plenty of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available, making it easy for anyone to find something they would enjoy. It’s also great to know their hours make it easy to plan a visit: Monday –Thursday: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM – Friday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM Sunday: Closed A great downtown Wilmington spot that feels both welcoming and memorable, especially for a relaxed lunch or early dinner.

I wanted to love this place!!! But it just missed the mark on every single thing. FYI I hate writing negative reviews!!! The spicy sliders used overly dry chicken. The cucumber salad was mush/felt days old (no crunch), like a soup and was flavorless. The artichoke & parmesan soup tasted like neither of those things and instead like… clam chowder? Lavender lemonade wasn’t fresh at all—you can immediately taste from the overwhelming lavender flavor and purple color that it’s syrup! And I noticed on someone else’s tray who got house chips… that they weren’t homemade potato chips… but instead off brand cheap Ruffles or something? I say off brand because they were tiny little broken bottom of the bag pieces. On aesthetic—the place initially was SO cute!!! But you sit and realize dust is coating everything. And the bathrooms? Less than acceptable. I’d be horrified to bring my toddler in there. Cleanliness was bad—but also aesthetically not good. Hole in the wall, peeling wallpaper, rusted/something weird going on with the sink faucet, etc. Kitchen staffed also looked extremely grumpy the entire time we were there… BUT our cashier was so sweet and kind. Said I had a pretty dress on!!!

Interesting little spot in downtown Wilmington. Easy to miss if you're not careful. Only has street parking. Pretty small inside but neat and has an outdoor seating area which, honestly is a little... unkempt. In the beautiful weather it was nice to sit out... probably very hot out there in the summer, not much shading. The service was excellent and the food was good. We had the smash burger and a small soup. Would return.
